Encouraging Collaboration
We believe that underserved communities are supported more effectively if organizations adopt common objectives and combine resources.
In 2010, we held events worldwide to encourage collaboration between grantees:
-
U.S. - Our second Innovation Generation Network conference brought together more than 130 grantees and leaders in STEM education to share best practices, leverage resources and cultivate an informed frontline of advocates to move the U.S. STEM education agenda forward.
-
Asia - More than 30 representatives of Motorola Foundation-funded NGOs from eight countries met in Shanghai, China, to network and learn from experts in corporate responsibility and education while also attending the USA National Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo. Speakers included the U.S. Consular General in Shanghai, Beatrice Camp, as well as Motorola, Inc. leaders from the region.
-
Europe –The grantee conference in Krakow, Poland hosted over 20 grantees and 10 Motorola, Inc. employees from 11 countries to talk about their programs, network, and share best practices.
-
Latin America – We hosted 27 NGOs from nine countries in Santiago, Chile. These NGOs and volunteers shared best practices and discussed a variety of topics such as how to reach underserved populations, how to use volunteers, and how to best collaborate with other NGOs.
We encourage collaboration through our Innovation Generation collaborative grants, which require applicants to create partnerships between two or more non-profit organizations or schools.
