Motorola Solutions joins humanitarian organizations to address critical needs of communities around the world. Below are examples of our global disaster relief support.
In response to the floods in Australia, the Motorola Solutions Foundation made a $25,000 contribution to the Red Cross and matched employee giving for flood relief up to $10,000.
In response to the flooding and mudslides in Brazil, the Motorola Solutions Foundation made a $25,000 contribution to CARE International and matched employee donations up to $10,000.
Motorola Solutions donated more than 1,300 radios and other products. The Motorola Solutions Foundation donated $300,000 to the Red Cross to support relief efforts in the region. In addition, through the generosity of Motorola Solutions employees, an additional $230,000 was donated through employee donations ($130,000) and Foundation donation match ($100,000).
Within hours of the earthquake, Motorola Solutions sent over PMP320 wireless broadband equipment and 250 of our MTP850 TETRA mission-critical radios to help emergency services teams working in the relief effort. In addition, the Motorola Solutions Foundation contributed a $25,000 grant to the New Zealand Red Cross and matched employee donations up to $10,000.
The Motorola Solutions Foundation provided immediate care to local residents affected by wildfires in Texas and tornadoes in other southern states through a $75,000 grant to the Red Cross’ relief fund. In addition, the foundation matched employee donations up to $25,000.
The Motorola Foundation provided a $50,000 grant to World Vision and matched up to $50,000 in employee donations to the Red Cross to support those affected by the earthquake. In addition, Motorola, Inc. and the Motorola Foundation provided products to aid in the immediate relief for the people of Chile.
In August 2010, massive landslides in northwest China left an estimated 700 dead and over 1,000 in need of rescue. To support relief efforts, the former Motorola Foundation donated $50,000 to World Vision and pledged to match employee donations to the charity, up to an additional $50,000.
Motorola, the Motorola Foundation and Motorola employees have provided more than U.S. $2 million in cash and products to support earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. The Motorola Foundation, gave U.S. $513,000 in cash donations to the American Red Cross and other relief agencies, including a U.S. $100,000 donation that was featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Motorola employees also donated more than U.S. $200,000 to the Red Cross.
In addition to cash donations, Motorola and the Motorola Foundation provided more than $1.3 million in products such as two-way radios, rugged laptops, mobile phones, network base stations and other equipment to assist customers, non-profit organizations and other relief agencies with on-the-ground efforts.
In response to the Israel wildfires, the Motorola Foundation made a $25,000 grant to American Friends of Magen David Adom (Israeli Red Cross) and matched employee donations up to $10,000.
When Hurricane Alex brought deadly floods to Mexico and Texas in June 2010, the Motorola Foundation donated $50,000 to the Mexico Red Cross and gave $25,000 to the American Red Cross to support the massive relief effort.
In response to the floods in Pakistan in July 2010, the Motorola Foundation donated $50,000 to CARE and pledged an additional $50,000 to match Motorola employee donations to the charity.
Motorola Pakistan also supplied food and other staple items, including medicines worth $14,600, through rescue teams in different areas of the Punjab and Khayber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
The Motorola Foundation responded to Portuguese flooding with a $25,000 grant to the Portuguese Red Cross to aid with recovery efforts.
Hundreds of wildfires engulfed large areas of western Russia in August 2010, sparked by the hottest summer ever recorded. Emergency services battled more than 600 fires nationwide, covering over 220,000 acres. The Motorola Foundation pledged to match employee donations to qualifying non-profit organizations supporting the relief efforts, up to $50,000.
